Yes thats right, we are doing a Amicus
Hunks Charity Calendar this year in aid of Motor Nerone Disease
(
www.euanmacdonaldcentre.com),
which was set-up by the inspirational Euan MacDonald and his
father, Donald. I recently visited the centre for the official
opening and were moved and motivated by the caring close knit
community of all who have been affected by motor neourone disease.
My father passed away from motor neurone disease when i was 12
years old and helping raise money to find a cure for this horrible
disease and support the families of those who have the disease, has
always been a focus for myself, my sister, mum and uncle. My mum
has done some tremendous fund raising in the past including her
yearly cook books and i feel fortunate now to be in a position
where i can do my bit to raise awareness and hopefully make a
difference.
Through having Amicus Apple, I have been fortunate enough to meet
some wonderful people in the MND Community and in particular the
MacDonald family, Chloe Kippen from Edinburgh University and Iain
McWhirter from MND Scotland to name a few. All the staff at Amicus
have been tremendous in supporting my past fundraising activities
such as our ladies night and a close friend, Joni Mackay, did an
amazing job at last years Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show, which
raised an unbelievable £67,000 for three different charities
including MND.
BUT NOW ONTO THIS YEAR!
I told the Amicus boys just over a month before the photoshoot that
we were going to be doing a topless calendar this year for charity.
I was greeted by a general consensus of slight anxiousness and
annoyance that I had only given them just over one months notice. I
gave everyone the option of not doing the calendar but everyone was
up for it and excited in a slightly cringible and we are going to
get a lot of slagging for this kind of way.
I then told them we were kindly being helped out by a few of the
Scotland Rugby team and a personal trainer friend, Olly Foster. The
slight annoyance then maybe grew a bit stronger and I was met with
a mutter of "My month better not be beside them!" and a few
wandering eyes checking themselves out and in their heads I could
hear them saying "sh*t i better join a gym and put that pint
down!"
The shoot is taking place on the week commencing Monday 23rd. I
dont want to say the actual date in case we cant control the huge
crowds flocking to Amicus to get a glimpse of the buff bar boys ;-)
The wonderfully talented Susie Lowe (
www.susielowe.co.uk) has given us
her services for free for the shoot and David Peters from Red Dress
Creative (
http://reddresscreative.com) will be doing the
design.
